About River City Frenchies

River City Mission

Located in the heart of South Carolina, River City Frenchies focuses on producing and maintaining lines of French Bulldogs that are bred to the breed standard structure. We prioritze health and temperament at the top. We believe that French Bulldogs are meant to be healthy, well rounded family companions.

Our Philosophy

We are a small, indoor, hobby breeding operation dedicated to the betterment of the French Bulldog breed—not for profit, but out of pure passion.

Every breeding is carefully planned with specific goals in mind. While we consider everyone’s preferences, we reserve the right to choose the best fit for each puppy based on our evaluation. We do not breed to fulfill waitlists but maintain a paid waiting list for serious buyers (contact us for details).

Our puppies are ready to join their new homes between 8-10 weeks of age, as we prioritize their critical socialization period. We raise all our puppies to be well-socialized, adaptable companions. Depending on their progress and development, we may keep puppies longer to better evaluate their structure.

Puppies placed in new homes are strictly intended for pet purposes. Any puppies we consider breeding or show quality will only be sold on guardianship basis.

The prices of our pups are not based on sex, color, or DNA - prices are based upon overall quality and factors such as pedigree and titles of studs/dams.

About AKC Registration:

Because all of our puppies are potential keepers and may remain with us beyond four months of age, we register every puppy under the River City name to ensure consistency and quality.

About Us

We are a close-knit family of four located in the heart of South Carolina’s Midlands. Our two wonderful children are actively involved in helping care for our dogs, making this a true family passion. I am a Registered Nurse, and Chris is a talented tattoo artist with over 17 years of experience and the proud owner of Integrity Ink SC, located in Columbia’s vibrant capital.

Our dogs are never kennel-raised; they live as part of our family, sharing in our daily lives, whether it’s mealtime, playtime, or snuggling up for bedtime. Raised in a warm and social environment with our children, they are given the best possible start in life. We spare no effort or expense in their care and are committed to selecting only the highest-quality studs and females to continually improve the excellence of our program.

Your New Best Friend

We dedicate significant time and effort into preparing our puppies for their new homes by focusing on their socialization and essential training. This includes crate training, litter box training, early housebreaking, nail trimming, leash training, and teaching basic commands like “sit” and “come.” We utilize a program called Puppy Culture.

Each of our puppies goes home with their first set of vaccinations and deworming. We also provide one month of free health insurance coverage through Trupanion, which starts immediately with no waiting period or payout limits. To activate the insurance, buyers simply need to call within 24 hours of pick-up—no payment information required.

Health Tested French Bulldogs

Health, Temperament & Structure

At River City Frenchies, everything we do is built on three core pillars: health, temperament, and structural integrity. This includes thorough health evaluations, including genetic panels and official OFA clearances. We deliberately align our program with—and work to surpass—the health testing standards set by the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA).

Our focus is the improvement of the breed through responsible, calculated choices. By carefully pairing individuals based on their health records, stable temperaments, correct structure, and overall quality, we work to produce French Bulldogs that are physically sound, highly functional, and great companions.

Function and Breed Type

We believe that a well-bred French Bulldog should be an athletic, capable companion. This means prioritizing free, open breathing, effortless movement, and a balanced frame. Our dogs are selected to showcase correct breed type—meaning strong toplines, heavy bone, tight feet, proper angulation, and that distinct, expressive look that makes the breed so special.

Alongside physical soundness, temperament is a massive priority for us. We raise our dogs to be confident, loving, and intelligent companions that fit seamlessly into the home as true family members.

Transparency and Commitment

Transparency is a cornerstone of our program. The health test results for our breeding dogs are fully public and verifiable at any time through the official Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA) database using each dog’s registered name.

At River City Frenchies, we are deeply committed to producing exceptional puppies today while doing our part to protect and preserve the health of this breed for the future.

We believe this is what sets us apart.

Puppy Culture

At River City Kennels, we believe that the first few months of a puppy’s life are the most critical for shaping a confident, well-adjusted companion.

To give our litters the best possible start, we follow rigorous Puppy Culture Protocols, ensuring every pup is prepared for their future home from day one.

Our comprehensive socialization and training program includes:

• Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS): We begin gentle stimulation exercises within the first few days of life to support healthy development and stress resilience.

• Environmental Exposure: Starting at 3 weeks, puppies are introduced to a "novel item" daily. They gain confidence on various textures (vinyl, wood, gravel, and asphalt) and become desensitized to common household sounds like vacuums, power tools, thunder, and fireworks.

• Animal Socialization: Our pups enjoy supervised weekly interactions with a variety of animals, ranging from dogs of all sizes to farm animals like chickens.

• Comprehensive Handling: We prioritize regular grooming habits, including baths, ear cleanings, and nail dremeling. Puppies also receive daily, respectful affection from our children, ensuring they are comfortable with handling and human interaction.

• Foundational Training:

• House & Litter Training: Litter training begins at 3–4 weeks, with basic house training introduced by week 6.

• Crate Conditioning: By the time our puppies leave at 10–11 weeks, they are already accustomed to positive crate training for a smoother transition to your home.

• The Communication Trinity: We utilize positive  emotional responses and body language to help you and your puppy "speak the same language."

• Show Prospects: For those destined for the ring, we begin introductory stack training early on.

To ensure a seamless transition, we highly recommend the Puppy Culture New Owner Bundle. You can find that resource here: https://shoppuppyculture.com/

OFA & French Bulldogs

The Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA) plays a vital role in improving the health of French Bulldogs by providing standardized screening and certification for breed-relevant genetic, orthopedic, cardiac, and respiratory conditions. OFA testing helps identify inherited health risks, supports responsible breeding decisions, and promotes transparency by maintaining a public health database. Utilizing OFA-recommended testing is an important step in preserving the long-term
